I grew up on TV shows like X-Men: The Animated Series and X-Files, and later... movie franchises like Star Wars and Harry Potter, as well as anything "based on a true story."
In high school, I became so fascinated by Shakespeare, that I wrote my own fanciful story in iambic pentameter. It was exactly as you might imagine, but it showed me how much I loved creating new worlds from which to tell stories.
My characters, regardless of genre, are pained in some way, often facing issues of guilt, regret, identity, and the pursuit of second chances. The simultaneous fragility and power of hope is a dichotomy I love to examine through my characters.
I love to write, more and more every day. Storytelling provides us with an escape, but my favorite thing-- the thing that inspires me to write-- is it gives us a chance to further develop our most important human gift... EMPATHY.
